[Random] Rage-baited by a face-slapping novel

Yup, as per the title. I usually just ignore novels that I don’t like and proceed to read others but this time, I can’t stand it anymore; I need to talk about it. At this moment, I only read until Chapter 8 (imagine that).

But first, let me lay out the basics info:
Novel title: 《万人嫌和大佬联姻后[穿书]》/ When the most hated person married the Big Boss (Novel transmigration)

The summary is too long, Banana is lazy to translate so y’all can Google it yourself 😂

But the gist was like this – MC (Xie Qingyue) is twin siblings with Xie Yaoyang. Even though they are twins, the entire family and friends disliked MC like he’s a lowlife.

MC suffered an inhuman amount of injustice throughout his childhood, up until Chapter 8 where he’s in college now.

Anyway, everyone disliked him (for the weirdest reason, and this novel genre is not even supernatural). MC endured it all, thinking it will get better in the future. It didn’t (up until Chapter 8).

According to the summary, his family will soon face bankruptcy and his parents will force him to marry a rich guy (ML/Qin Zhaoshuo) from the Qin Group to save the family’s financial problems.

Only then after a dream, that MC realised that he is living inside a novel as a cannon fodder and the MC of the book was his twin Xie Yaoyang.

MC decided to stop being a nice guy, stop accepting all the injustice, stop caring for his family. Later, his parents and friends regretted their actions and begged for forgiveness but MC no longer cares for them.

Banana: That’s a part of the summary. So let’s get to the part why I’m so demm annoyed by the novel 😂

The author gave these qualities to MC:
– Kind-hearted
– Caring
– Tolerant
– Smart
– Artistic
Etcetcetc

But Banana would like to add more:
– Naive
– Weirdly stupid for a smart person
– Extremely bad luck (but this is on the author)

I have more but it’s hard to describe in a keyword. Anyway, the author made MC so good but in order to make this a face-slapping novel, MC gotta suffer first, which I reluctantly accepted it and waiting impatiently for the face-slapping part.

However the suffering part was way too much and completely unrealistic (or too realistic, depending on your POV) that I couldn’t stay long enough for the face-slapping part anymore.

Things that annoyed me: [Spoiler Alert]

[1] The whole family hated MC. The reason was as a twin, MC born healthy while his twin was constantly sick. His mother blamed him for ‘snatching all the nutrients’ from his twin. MC accepted it like it was his sin to bear ( = _ = )

Banana: 🤦🏻‍♀️ no one can allocate/snatch nutrients at will, it’s not how- okay, never mind that. I guess the author just wanted a random reason to hate MC.

[2] The servants would gossip about MC and even scolded him in his face, saying terrible things about him like he shouldn’t exist in this world at all. When MC decided to use the power as their employer to sack them, the servants finally begged for forgiveness (reluctantly). MC rejected the pleas but his mother and twin happened to be there and said MC should be a bigger man and stop being petty.

[3] MC’s younger sister call MC by his name rather than addressing him as elder brother and would say a lot of impolite stuff at him. One day, she ran away from home for fun and got into a sticky situation with a drunkard uncle near a bar. MC found her and helped her but the drunkard’s friends chased them for revenge. There’s 6 of them and it was hard for MC to fight alone. He told his sister to run away as soon as she could and call the police. The sister simply ran away but returned home like nobody’s business. MC fought by himself and got injured. His big brother (the eldest son in the family) happened to pass by and gave him a lift home.

MC got home and asked for explanation from his sister. At the presence of the eldest son, the sister denied having run away and said she has been home all along and MC should stop being a habitual liar. The eldest brother believe their sister rather than MC.

[4] MC stay at dorm more than his home because he knew everyone didn’t like him but he decided to go home one day to see his big brother and realised there are construction workers in his room. When asked the housekeeper, it was said that his room are demolished to make space for his twin’s room. His mother said his twin keep coughing and thinks he couldn’t breathe properly in a ‘cramped’ room.

MC’s new room is at ground floor while the rest of the family remained at 3rd floor. When asked about free rooms at 3rd floor, the housekeeper said the younger sister also wanted a bigger room so a free room was demolished to enlarge her room. The rest were occupied by the twin and sister temporarily until the construction ends.

MC went to his new room and found out that some of his stuffs were missing – namely a drawing made by his younger sister when their relationship was still very good, and all his birthday gifts given by his family when he was young.

When trying to search for the items, his mother revealed that she burned them because it was nothing important.

Also, during the conversation, she lamented that MC managed to grade-skip at school and entered college at young age, causing his twin to FOMO. She scolded MC for being selfish for neglecting his twin’s condition and didn’t enter highschool like normal people. She even demands MC to quit college (he’s graduating soon with masters I think) and get into highschool examination to restart his education.

Banana: 😑😑😑😑😑😑😑 I should have stopped here but I really wanted for MC to meet ML.

There’s a lot more injustice at school and at work (MC is working part time as actor) but I couldn’t describe all.

The latest injustice that made me quit the novel for real was MC recounting his sad memories when he was young. Apparently, his mother was a CEO of their current company before handing it to her husband. She was stressed, irritable, and couldn’t stand to see MC.

Soon, she devised a method to punish MC – solitary confinement. The first time MC got punished, it was because he didn’t ‘take care’ of his twin properly, causing him to get fever. He was confined for 3 days without water and food. The reason he managed to get out of confinement alive was because a friend of his big brother constantly dropped by to give him some food.

After that, MC would constantly be punished with solitary confinement for the smallest thing.

And so, Banana quitted this god-forsaken novel with a raging pain at the base of my head due to extreme stress 😂

Fuck this shit. No one should be this situation, or let the situation escalate to this level. The plot simply doesn’t make sense or it’s not plotting at all.

I think there should be a limit at the suffering part before it gets too dramatic for a casual romance story. This is not wuxia novel when the MC would cultivate to be godly then come back for revenge. This is just a casual romance BL. The MC shouldn’t suffer so much, it’s simply inhumane ==

PS: Again, please don’t mind the incoherent parts in my rant because I was typing this on my phone. Can’t wait that long to rant at home with my desktop 😂

  1. I know exactly which story you’re talking about! I dropped it to, it had so many terrible things happening to the MC and he was such a nitwit I couldn’t stand it. 😅
