Zhu WuXin originally have weak body and bones, she fainted after the count hits thirty. Seeing her bloodied back and horrible condition of it, the people present at the scene including Zhu Hou, couldn’t bear to continue watching anymore. After all, the two misses just wanted to bully her only, they haven’t reach the point where they wanted her life. Finally, they helped to persuade to stop the punishment. Zhu Hou saw the way out[1], immediately ordered to stop the punishment.

Crying, Xiao Lian rushed to Zhu WuXin’s side, and brought her back into her room. She asked Aunt Liu to help WuXin change out of her clothes, while she rushed off to look for Doctor Lu.

The moment Doctor Lu arrived and saw her back, the corner of his eyes seemed a bit moist.

Xiao Lian only heard him say, “Jing Chu, I have let you down.”

He kicked Xiao Lian and Aunt Liu out, closing the door to proceed with the treatment by himself.

Zhu WuXin only fainted for a while, under the treatment of Doctor Lu, she gradually woke up.

“Don’t move. I’m putting the medicine on you.”

Doctor Lu saw that she wanted to get up, immediately stopped her.

Zhu WuXin only moved a bit slightly, and felt her whole body throbbed painfully all over. Grimacing in pain, she asked Doctor Lu if these injuries will leave behind scars in the future.

Doctor Lu sighed, and said he will try to look for ways to make her skin smooth and glowing again.

Zhu WuXin weakly smiled, “There’s not even one good spot anywhere over my body, it’s no longer smooth.”

“Doctor Lu, I just hoped it won’t hurt, actually it doesn’t really matter even if it scarred.”

She gripped her pillow tightly, cursing a string of profanities. Turns out the flogging for ancient chinese was hitting the back, not the bottom! No wonder she can’t move after getting hit, such a large surface of the boards, if wasn’t for her bones hard enough, she really would been certified as disabled.

Doctor Lu finished smearing the medicine and pulled up her quilt to cover her properly. He sat beside the bed and asked, “Child, are you willing to leave with me?”

“Nn?” What kind of situation is this?

Where does Doctor Lu want to take her?

Seeing the puzzled look on Zhu WuXin’s face, he laughed and explained, “I am your mother’s friend. She asked me to take care of you before her death. Before this, I put too much trust on HongSan, believing he will take good care of you and have never came to take you away.”

“But today, I…..”

Zhu WuXin understood clearly, nodded. So in this world, there are still people who cares for her. But it’s not the time to go yet. She turned to face Doctor Lu, looking at his goat-like beard and smiled, “Uncle, I don’t want to go.”

“Why?”

“The suffering I have endured, the debt must be collected.”

Doctor Lu laughed out loud, “You and your mother’s temper are really alike.”

“En. I would certainly repay my debt.” [2]

Calm and collected, Zhu WuXin raised her hand to pat the back of Doctor Lu’s hand, “Thank you, Uncle.”

To receive a thanks like this from her, Doctor Lu felt a bit embarrassed.
Childishly touched his head, he giggled. Rushing clumsily to pack his stuff, “During this period, I will come to see you everyday to change the dressing.”

“You have to remember, you can’t take bath. You can’t let your wound touch water. And also you can’t do rigorous movement.”

“I have other patients to see, so I will go now ah. You take good care of yourself…..”

Zhu WuXin looked at Doctor Lu as he walked away, this is the first time she have seen such cute old person. Remembering his red-faced expression, it was really funny.

Not long after Doctor Lu left, Xiao Lian rushed inside extremely anxious and shouted, “Miss, I know the reason why they picked this time to frame you.”

[1] : 有了台階下 – Idiom, means been given a chance to get away from something one does not want to do

[2] : 有仇必報 – Idiom, means if there is a grievance, there will be revenge. I was aiming to translate it the shortest sentence possible for the impact, not sure if it fits :v
